David Rothenberg, clarinets

Clarinetist David Rothenberg has performed and recorded with Jan Bang, Scanner, Glen Velez, Karl Berger, Peter Gabriel, Ray Phiri, and the Karnataka College of Percussion. He has seven CDs out under his own name, including “On the Cliffs of the Heart. “ named one of the top ten releases of 1995 by Jazziz magazine. He is the author of Why Birds sing, book and CD, published in seven languages and the subject of a BBC television documentary. Rothenberg also appears in last spring’s PBS show The Music Instinct. His latest book is Thousand Mile Song, about making music with whales. His first CD on ECM records, “One Dark night I Left My Silent House:, a duet album with pianist Marilyn Crispell, appeared in May 2010.

Judi Silvano, voice

Udi Silvano is an internationally recognized singer and songwriter who loves all kinds of songs from old Standards to Thelonius Monk’s unusual melodies as well as her own personal songs and celebrates the wonderful dance of life through her various musical collaborations, most notably with Joe Lovano, Kenny Werner and Mike Abene. Ms. Silvanohas been voted Top Ten Jazz Singer in the prestigious Down Beat Magazine’s Polls from 2000-2008, was voted Best Jazz Vocalist in Hudson Valley Magazine in 2007, has received numerous grants and is working on her 10th recording to be released next year.

Acoustic and electric bassist, composer, and educator, Ratzo B. Harris is a 1984 National Endowment for the Arts recipient, 1995 Thelonius Monk competition semi-finalist and past contributing columnist for Bass Player magazine; Ratzo Harris is considered an innovative bassist who has worked with some of the greatest musicians of our time.
